Behaviour Support and Counselling

SalSea acknowledges the Bunurong people as the Traditional Custodians of the land and waters we live and work on. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present and recognise their enduring care for Country.
SalSea recognises the strength that comes from diverse identities and lived experiences. We welcome people of all abilities, cultures, identities, and sexualities, and we’re committed to inclusive, person-centred practices that foster dignity and belonging for all.

SalSea was founded with a genuine commitment to providing high-quality, meaningful support for individuals living with disabilities. Inspired by the clarity and steadiness of coastal landscapes, we deliver Positive Behaviour Support and Counselling services that foster emotional wellbeing, independence, and an improved quality of life.
Our name reflects our purpose. “Sal”, the Latin word for salt, symbolises grounding, healing, and restoration, while “Sea” represents calm strength, movement, and change. Together, SalSea embodies balance and renewal, recognising that lasting change unfolds gradually, much like the tide.
Our mission is to empower individuals through personalised, compassionate care. Guided by the calming influence of nature and the ocean, we are committed to expanding our services across the Mornington Peninsula and Broome.

Psychological Safety and Wellbeing
We believe people can only grow, learn, and heal when they feel safe. Emotional and physical safety are the foundations of dignity, trust, and wellbeing.
Respect for Lived Experience and Diversity
We believe every person’s experience, identity, and way of being in the world is valid. Diversity enriches our communities, and inclusion is essential to ethical, human-centred care.
Autonomy, Empowerment, and Self-Connection
We believe people have the right to make choices about their own lives. Supporting autonomy strengthens confidence, self-trust, and connection to one’s own needs, values, and inner wisdom.
Integrity and Ethical Responsibility
We believe trust is earned through honesty, accountability, and respect. Ethical practice protects people’s rights and ensures care remains safe, transparent, and person-led.
Collaboration and Shared Responsibility
We believe wellbeing is shaped by relationships, systems, and environments. Working together leads to stronger understanding and more sustainable support.
Growth, Reflection, and Learning
We believe people, practice, and systems evolve. Curiosity, reflection, and learning are essential to remaining responsive, respectful, and deeply human.

At SalSea, we take a holistic, person‑centred approach that blends Positive Behaviour and Counselling Support with evidence-informed strategies and psychological principles. We tailor every plan to the individual, drawing on their strengths, goals, and environment to ensure support that feels respectful, practical, and empowering.
We work collaboratively with families, caregivers, and professionals to create a connected support network, and we stay committed to ongoing learning so our practice continues to evolve. Grounded in calm and inspired by nature, we focus on building emotional resilience, supporting mental health, and helping individuals navigate challenges with confidence and clarity.

Sally is a thoughtful and values‑driven Behaviour Support Practitioner, emerging Provisional Psychologist, and Co‑Founder of SalSea. Her work is grounded in empathy, respect, and a deep belief in each person’s capacity for steady, meaningful growth. She partners with individuals, families, and support networks to develop evidence‑informed strategies that enhance wellbeing, reduce distress, and create calm, supportive environments.
Currently completing her final years of training toward general registration as a psychologist, Sally brings a strong foundation in psychological science and mental-wellbeing knowledge to her work with NDIS participants. Additionally, Sally draws on her extensive senior leadership experience across finance, compliance, service, strategy, and governance, to blend analytical clarity with genuine compassion.
With service delivery across both metropolitan and regional communities, Sally's approach is person‑centred, trauma‑informed, and shaped by SalSea’s commitment to empowerment, collaboration, and cultural safety.
As a founder, Sally is driven by curiosity, integrity, and an ethical approach to helping people live more connected, fulfilling lives.

Every behaviour has meaning. It is one of the ways people communicate their needs, emotions, and experiences, especially when words are difficult to use. Behaviour may be a way of saying “I need help,” “I’m overwhelmed,” “I don’t feel safe,” or “Something needs to change.”
At SalSea, we do not aim to change who a person is. We value individuality, difference, and lived experience.
Behaviour support is about understanding the message behind behaviour and creating environments where people feel safe, respected, and supported to be themselves.

We work alongside individuals, families, carers, and support teams to develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans that are:
Rather than trying to “fix” behaviour, we focus on understanding what is driving it and finding supportive, compassionate ways to meet underlying needs.

Through collaboration, compassion, and evidence-based practice, we create supportive environments that allow each person to live with greater comfort, confidence, and choice, at their own pace.

At SalSea, our counselling services provide flexible, person-centred Capacity Building support for individuals who may be waiting to access psychology, feel unsure about engaging with clinical therapy, or are seeking additional emotional support alongside existing care.
Counselling focuses on building practical skills, confidence, and emotional capacity to help participants manage daily challenges, strengthen independence, and progress toward their NDIS goals. Supports are delivered collaboratively with participants and, where appropriate, families, Support Coordinators, and other professionals to ensure they are goal-aligned, practical, and sustainable.
This service is well suited for participants on psychology waitlists, those daunted by diagnostic-focused services, or anyone who benefits from regular, relational support between psychology appointments. Counselling offers a cost-effective way to extend Capacity Building funding, supporting continuity of care.
Counselling at SalSea complements psychology by providing consistent, strengths-based support that helps participants feel supported while developing the skills needed to move forward.

Counselling sessions are person-led and goal-focused, supporting both immediate emotional needs and longer-term skill development that contributes to independence, participation, and wellbeing. Our approach includes:
